Facts first. Motives later — if ever.
• “They ignored me.”
• “They are trying to control everything.”
• “They do not care.”
Maybe. But maybe not.
A delayed response, a firm position, or a difficult decision can have many explanations. Before assigning a motive, ask:
“Can you help me understand what led to that decision?”
Curiosity preserves relationships. Assumptions can damage them fast.

When a dispute has already filled in the blanks — when each side is sure it knows the other’s motive — a neutral can slow that down. I offer mediation for business, organizational, and family disputes, and the first thing we do is separate what happened from what people assume it meant. Reach out to talk about whether mediation fits.
